Poem: You are your Masterpiece

And so, this is the sum of our lives
Stained from rust of pain, hate and loss
Not exempted from sin or the cross
We floss away the plaque
From our arteries, teeth, and bones
Only to find them defiling
Our hearts, souls and minds.

We leave pieces of ourselves
Scattered at every milestone
In our life’s trying journey
Sometimes losing ourselves in a blurry.

Nothing is ever wasted
And all is not lost –
In the jaded, faded and tainted

Under every stone,
In every tree and flower,
As sure as the Sun has shone,
And the stars will continue to glisten above,
Time has always shown
Humanity’s Triumph in Full Bloom.

You are your own masterpiece,
A Sublime Beauty
Becoming, Blossoming,
At your own time and pace.

A walking and breathing work of art
Forged in Life, Love and Hope –
May wisdom always reign your mind
May compassion keep your spirit defined
And the moral compass of your heart enshrined.

You are the Masterpiece of Humankind.

Being Afraid Is Human, But Staying Afraid Is A Choice.

Good to read your words again. I’ve been swamped as editor for Katherine James Books lately. Lovely. Few have the bravery or independence or faith to truly follow their dreams. We cut ourselves off mercilessly,. from the life that would best suit us. What animals we are.

This is lovely, Shirley. I remember a few years ago saying to whoever would listen that my life was my art. Your poem so beautifully expresses what I meant but did not know how to express. <3

Hi Carol, always a joy to hear from you. Hope all is well at your side of the world. You are definitely a masterpiece to me! And I believe that I am not the only one who thinks so. 🙂

Why is it that when the word “beauty” is utilised we always only use a female symbol? Never realised the word “beauty” had a gender???

There is no gender in beauty. I believe beauty resides in all of us, stirring our souls in deep repose. Nice to hear from you again, Anthony. Hope all is well with you. Take good care. 🙂
