Poem: The Storm

By Tuesday, March 25, 2014 6 , , , , Permalink 0

The seas rise in rage

As emotions explode

Dreams are shredded

Hopes have been shattered

It’s hard to disengage

The tides fall and rise

As darkness veils and lies

Fury swallow whole

Humanity unknown

Still, the ocean denies answers

Tears churn into waves

But nothing washes off

Only the wreckage

Of hearts and minds

Fill the debris at sea

The storm builds

Inside and outside

The storm divides

Grief and Hope

There will be no peace

Return the travellers

May they come home

May we bury the dead

And our painful loss

Only then can we begin to mourn.

Grief

Being Afraid Is Human, But Staying Afraid Is A Choice.

Shirley, this is a very touching poem. But nothing washes off

    Only the wreckage

    Of hearts and minds

    Fill the debris at sea

    Such powerful lines.

May the families of those whose lives have been swallowed by the sea have courage in this dark time of grief and may they also one day get answers to this horrific tragedy.

It is an aftermath unseen to many, fought countless times and never won.
When knowing of why the loss is the only thing gained that blankets our hearts in comfort.

A beautiful written piece Shirley 😀 May we soon find closure.
