Poem: Fearless Ascends

Hello Darkness,

My Old Friend

I used to dread

Seeing you

Used to hate

The power you

Held over me

Twisting me

From the inside out

Letting me breathe

Just enough

So I remain conscious

Of every pain and suffering

Yes, you wanted me

To FEEL everything

You pulled all the strings

I was a mere puppet

I walked no further

Than my comfort zone

I saw no more

Than my little window

In this prison of Fear

I was your willing captive

Today I shall drink

A toast to you

For bringing me

Close to this razor’s edge

Then yanking me back

Just so I could

Experience the Fall

Over and over again

I know this shit

Doesn’t get any easier

I know it won’t end

But I do get

Stronger and wiser

All thanks to you

And this repeated

Agonising process

I will no longer

Cower in silence

I will face them all –

The beasts you unleash

The poisons you preach

I will not run or hide

Unafraid, undeterred

I will be

My own Light

For I’ve become

FEARLESS

From falling, I learnt to rise

From chaos, I gained clarity

From madness, I reclaimed sanity

From darkness, my wisdom thrived

THE THRONE IS NOW MINE.

Strength is not built in one day, and darkness will not be banished in one act. It takes time and effort. Like every muscle in our body, it takes time and effort to become strong. Take heart and don’t give up.

Start your own brand of fearless living and love the life you live.

Peace 🙂

    I love these lines:
From falling, I learnt to rise

    From chaos, I gained clarity

    From madness, I reclaimed sanity

    From darkness, my wisdom thrived

    THE THRONE IS NOW MINE.

These are lines of courage, faith and victory.

      Dearrest Carol,
You got the verses that meant the most to me. They are my message to self as well as reminder of how far I have come, yet I still have a long way to go. Small victories in the baby steps lead to the greater victory in the end 🙂

So powerful, Shirley. Every word a reminder to darkness that this old friend and enemy can be conquered. May even become an ally in the fight to grow stronger each time. x

I love that you get me, AM/SS. Infact everything in life can be an enemy or ally. All depends on how we perceive it to be, and how we respond to it. I;ve seen good things like wealth and fame turn people into “monsters”, while others use their wealth and fame for greater good. Will be replying your email soon. Miss chatting with you. Hugs x

CL, I feel certain you will triumph! Darkness flirts with me every now and again. Over time, I learnt how to take charge of this “tango”. You are a bold fearless warrior in more ways than one. Go kick ass! Hugs and love 🙂

I wouldn’t mind learning that tango if I was dancing with Al Pacino!

Shirley….this is a brilliant poetic declaration of war on your demons,
BRAVO! to you for overcoming, for allowing yourself to believe in your inner warrior .

THANK YOU for your immensely supportive words. I am constantly at war with my demons. But these days, I learn how to use them in a more positive way. Practice does make perfect – even if it takes a liftime to perfect haha. I know this sounds totally off topic, but I finally realise who you remind me of – the actor Sam Elliott! Did anyone ever told you that? 🙂

I love your stuff SMT, can you give me a roadmap to your erotic poetry? Is it here or in some other website? Or should I just buy the book?

Thanks for your very kind comments, Doug. There’s probably about eleven erotic poems published in my blog. You could start by going here http://shirleymaya.com/category/fiction-poetry/page/2/ and then work backwards. The very first was http://shirleymaya.com/2013/06/08/poetry-erotica-the-fifty-shades-of-desire/

The book may be out late 2015. 😉
